Belfast to Owl Head State Park – Maine

Now that I have gotten over the whole moose thing let’s get back to taking pictures of things that don’t try to hide from me!!!

We took a few days of vacation during the work week to explore some more areas of Maine. Yes, we are on vacation full time except most weeks Monday thru Friday from 7:30 to 4:30.

We are heading back to the coast on this trip to explore two state parks, small fishing towns and a few lighthouses. Oh, I can’t forget the seal statue!! I hope you enjoy the ride.

Ed turn around I have check out this pond!! Connie this dually truck does not turn around just anywhere!!! We saw this pond along our route and it was just covered with these beautiful purple flowers. I could stare at this all day!
Ok Ed I’m coming, on to Belfast.
Did you say Lobster??

Time to move on to Camden Hills State Park located in the so cute town of Camden, Maine. The state park allows visitors to drive or hike to the summit of Mt. Battie. It has panoramic views of Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay and surrounding mountains.

A very beautiful look out tower!
The fog was coming into the bay.

The town of Camden is so cute with a Main Street lined with cute shops and big old houses that have been made into bed and breakfasts. They even had a garden tour going on the day we were passing through. I had to control myself and tell Ed to move on that it would be okay if I didn’t take the garden tour.🥹

I wiped my teary eyes and we were off to the town of Rockport and Rockport Harbor to find a seal 🦭 statue.

Rockport Harbor

So we made it to the harbor park and yes Ed you can find a parking spot in this little marina park for your big truck! Before we find this seal statue let’s get some lunch at this cute seafood food truck then we will have energy to find the seal statue.

So we set at this bench by the harbor and ate our lunch. We are done, so now Ed we have to find this statue! We use Google maps and follow the map this way and then that way but no statue. I think this seal is avoiding me like the moose, but it’s a statue it can’t hide!! Ok Ed let’s head back to the truck, wait a minute there’s the seal statue right behind the bench we ate our lunch!!🤣🤣

I think he is smiling at me!!

That was way to much time looking for a seal statue! We have to move on to Rockland and check out a lighthouse in Rockland Harbor.

It’s hard to see it in this picture but there is a mile and half round trip walk on a granite boulder breakwater to the lighthouse. Yes Ed you have to walk a mile and half!!
Look Ed the prize, it’s a lighthouse!! As you can see the breakwater is made of big boulders that have crevices between them, so it’s not just a walk in the park. I can’t forget to mention that it is in full sun exposure and it’s 90 degrees today! But you get to see cute seagulls and sail boats along the way!

We made it back to the truck without melting! So Ed says what’s next? Guess what, another lighthouse at Owl Head State Park!!! This one you can walk through a woods!

Owls Head post office, it’s so Maine!!
Since it was foggy at this lighthouse you could actually see the light in action.
After we climbed the stairs and took this picture for Ed (he always thinks we have to get our picture taken even though I tell him our friends and family want to see the scenery not us) we decided to hike to the small beach area in the park.
Yes, Ed we can go home now! I hope you enjoyed the ride today 🌞
